JAMES KAELAN is the co-founder of the film crowdfunding and distribution platform, Seed&Spark. Now the industry funding leader for films and series, with more successful dollars raised per month than Kickstarter, Seed&Spark has helped independent producers bring in more than $25 Million to make nearly 2,000 movies and shows.

Kaelan is also the co-founder of Free Machine, a non-profit dedicated to awakening civic participation where emerging technology, public policy, and culture meet. Through education, storytelling, and political organizing, Free Machine aims to create space where individuals can envision an equitable, abundant, and sustainable future.

In the late '00s, Kaelan helped founded Flatmancrooked, a small press based in Sacramento that published early books by a number of authors—including Emma Straub and Edan Lepucki—who would go on to be award-winning, New York Times bestsellers.
